I know its an old way to backup but for many reasons I needed one.I built multiple machines using Iomega Zip and Jaz drives with Windows XP.
Iomega Zip 100 Ation Software Drivers For AdaptecWindows XP on install (with SP3) has good drivers for Adaptec 2940 SCSI controllers and drivers for JAZ, ZIP, and multiple other vendoe CD and CDRW drives including Toshiba and Yamaha drives. I used some Internal and some External easily moved from machine to machine when needed. I dont usse the XP machines much now, but do at times and with the External SCSI drives I thought getting SCSI to work well with Windows 7 would be good. My Windows 7 machine is a 64 bit with an Adaptec 29160N SCSI controller. On BOOT, the Adaptec BIOS extension sees the drives just fine, but Windows does not see the JAZ, ZIP, or CD RDW drives I have that work fine in XP. I have heard that Windows 7 32bit might work better with them but I am not going there. Thanks again, I guess my antiques will collect more dust. Dean. On one system I used the XP driver and on the other I used a Windows 2000 driver. Both systems are working great with the older video drivers except they dont support Aero which was to be expected with the older video chip. Iomega Zip 100 Ation Software How To Extract ThemI dont know how to extract them from the Widows XP install CDs. I need to think about that., maybe they are in the XP Program area somewhere. Iomega Zip 100 Ation Software 32 Bit MBs IQuestion back to you, were the old machines you had luck with XP drivers 32 bit MBs I have heard from others the the XP stuff typically wont insrall in 64bit machines at all. One of Iomegas programs called Iomegeware is one Ive thought of installing in a Windows 7 VirtualXPMode. At the very least, you would need 64-bit drivers to identify the hardware to a 64-bit version of Windows, as the 32-bit drivers wont work, but as far as I can figure out, no 64-bit drivers were ever created for the 64-bit editions of Windows XP Professional, Windows Server 2003 or Window Vista, which is what I would have suggested trying had I found any. Then I would recommend putting the Iomega drives and media away someplace safe for a while (months or even a year or two) to make sure you have gotten all the files you need off of them. My data was password protected but the new USB drive wont ask me the password. When I first plugged it in Windows 7 downloaded a driver.do I need more software or am I screwed.
